    In 2010, Tiit Härm worked as a guest teacher in The Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper) and Volksoper Vienna (Volksoper Wien).

    Tiit Härm has been a consummate, strong-willed, sensual and charismatic premier danseur of the Estonian ballet. His roles in the ballets “The Wonderful Mandarin”, “Joanna Tentata”, “Daphnis and Chloe”, “Anthony and Cleopatra”, “Romeo and Juliet” and “Prometheus”, staged in the Estonia Theatre were epoch-making. Many cultural and state awards have been bestowed on Tiit Härm for his creative work.
  • 2001-2009
    From 2001 until 2009, Tiit Härm led the Estonian National Ballet, being its artistic director. In this period he staged for the ballet company of the Estonia Theatre such ballets as “Swan Lake” by P.Tchaikovsky, “Romeo and Juliet” by S.Prokofiev, “The Lady of the Camellias” to the music by F.Liszt, “Don Quixote” by L.Minkus, one act ballets “La valse” and “The Bolero” by Ravel, “Pelléas ja Mélisande” by A.Schönberg.

    He had brought about a number of changes in the theatre, which allowed the ballet company of the theatre to move to a new, higher level of performance quality and the boost of its image. He had started introducing the Estonia Theatre to the international stage. The company made guest appearances in Sweden, Finland, Russia, England, Latvia and Ukraine.
    At that time, also the following famous foreign choreographers were invited to work in the theatre: Mauro Bigonzetti, Attila Egerhazi, Jorma Elo, Youri Vàmos, Luciano Cannito, Frank Andersen, Gyula Harangozó, David Nixon, Nils Christe, and Uwe Scholz.
    During the directorship of Tiit Härm young Estonian choreographers were given the opportunity to staged their productions for the stage of the Estonia Theatre.
    Tiit Härm has been an active member of the jury at various international ballet competitions.

    Starting from 1992, Tiit Härm had worked as a guest choreographer in various theatres in different countries: La Scala (Teatro alla Scala) - J.Massenet „Grand pas“; The Slovenian National Theatre (Slovensko Narodno Gledališce Maribor) and The Grand Theatre of Bordeaux (Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux) - S.Prokofiev „Romeo ja Juliet“.

    In 1990–1991 Tiit Härm was the artistic director of the ballet company of the Estonia National Opera. During this period he created his stage production of Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet” in 1990 and a new version of Adam’s “Giselle”. Was invited to the famous swedish choreographer Birgit Cullberg for ballet "Miss Julia" of A.Rangstrem. +

    In 1985, Tiit Härm graduated from The Lunacharsky Moscow National Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS, currently The Russian University of Theatre Arts) with a qualification of the Director Choreographer after the studies under the tutelage of Professor Rostislav Zakharov, People's Artist of the USSR.

    In 1984, Tiit Härm staged his graduation work “Confession”, the first three-act ballet created by Edison Denisov (after the novel by Alfred de Musset) in Estonia Theatre, on request of the theatre’s Board. Tiit Härm was the originator of the idea of this ballet and its choreographer, as well as the stage director and the performer. Soon, in May 1986 the opening night of the ballet “The Valiant Son of Kalev” by E.Kapp (with Tiit Härm’s version of libretto, choreography and stage direction) took place. His first independent stage productions were the dance episodes in “The Marksman” by Weber, staged in 1980, and “Grand pas” to the music by Massenet, produced in 1981.
  • 1976-1984
    Tiit Härm was also an active screen actor. He appeared in the feature film “The Dead Mountaineer's Hotel” and the five-episode TV serial “Anna Pavlova”, as well as in the leading roles in the films “The Shining World”; musical films – „Legend“, „Inimene läheb päikese järgi“, „Francesca da Rimini“, “Tiit Härm Dancing”. +

    In 1976 he was awarded the honorary title of People's Artist of the ESSR.
    Tiit Härm has danced in many theatres of the former USSR – in the Bolshoi Theatre, the Kirov State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, (currently Mariinsky Ballet), in the Theatres of Opera and Ballet of Kiev, Minsk, Vilnius, Yerevan, Riga, Tashkent, Tbilisi.

    Moreover, he took part in many international guest performances around the world in more than 70 countries. Tiit Härm was repeatedly invited to perform his personal recitals in Moscow, Leningrad, and Riga and also in various cities of Sweden and Denmark.
  • 1971
    In 1971, Tiit Härm was awarded the honorary title of Honoured Artist of the Estonian SSR for his outstanding creative achievements.
    Starting from 1971, Tiit Härm had been a répétiteur for many stage productions and an assistant choreographer in the staging of the ballets “The Creation of the World” by Petrov, “Anthony and Cleopatra” by Lazarev, “The Execution of Stepan Razin” by Shostakovich and “Romeo and Juliet” by Berlioz.

  • 1966 -1990
    After graduating from the institute in 1966, Tiit Härm danced for a short period of time in the State Academic Theatre Estonia. Then in 1967 he became a soloist in the State Choreographic Concert Ensemble of the USSR “Young Ballet”. While dancing in many recitals of the ensemble both in the Soviet Union and abroad, he continued working also in the home theatre.

    In 1972, Tiit Härm left “Young Ballet” and became fully committed to the work in the theatre.
    As a dancer, Tiit Härm used to combine the strong basis of the classical school with the profound comprehension of the modern plastic dancing. His repertoire included both leading roles in classical ballets (Albrecht in “Giselle” by Adam, Prince Siegfried in Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake”, and other) and roles in modern stage productions (Adam in “The Creation of the World” by Petrov, Farmhand in “Kratt” by Tubin, Suryn in “Joanna Tentata” by Tamberg, and other). Excellent physique, profound talent for music and extraordinarily suggestive style of performance allowed Tiit Härm to become an artist of distinct individuality.
  • 1946 -1966
    Tiit Härm was born in 1946 in Tallinn. In 1957 he was admitted to the Tallinn National Choreography School where he studied under the tuition of several répétiteurs. From 1962, he continued his studies at the A. Vaganova Leningrad State Choreographic Institute (currently The Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet), where he was supervised by Nikolai Zubkovsky and Nikolai Serebrennikov, Honoured Artists of the RSFSR.
